(2 Hr Duration)

About the Webinar:
In collaboration with HPA The Catalyst, the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Section, and the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy, the Home Health Section brings you, “Physical Therapy Considerations of COVID-19 in the Post-Acute Setting.” During this webinar, presenters will discuss considerations of COVID-19 for the PT/PTA in the post-acute setting, whether patient referral is following hospitalization or through the community. While best practice is yet to be determined with this patient population, the focus of the webinar will be application of the most recent World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines for therapists working in skilled nursing and home health.

We'll Discuss:

  • Brief overview of the pathophysiology of COVID-19 and resultant signs and symptoms.
  • Telephone screening of patients and others in the household regarding signs/symptoms of COVID-19 and when telehealth may be appropriate.
  • Therapist self-monitoring.
  • Scheduling and personnel teams for treating patients with COVID-19.
  • Infection control once in the home, including personal protective equipment and equipment management.
  • Intervention monitoring and options in the home for oxygen desaturation and alternative oxygen delivery devices.
  • Recognizing and managing post COVID-19 weaknesses and impaired endurance that may be presented.
  • Panel discussion to include home health administrator and home health therapist.
