Philip Goldsmith, PT, MSPT, EMT, DScPT, COS-C

Phil Goldsmith is re-running for President in the 2024 Board Elections. 

I have been a physical therapist for more than twenty-five years, most of which has been spent in home health. I have worked for large, publicly-held agencies, privately owned agencies of various sizes, and not-for-profit agencies both hospital-based and free-standing. In addition, I have worked in skilled nursing facilities and outpatient clinics.

Currently, I am the owner of Goldsmith Therapy Solutions, providing both clinical and management consulting services with a focus on home health. I also work on an as-needed basis for a number of skilled nursing facilities in my local area.

On a more personal note, I live in Hanover, Pennsylvania with my wife, eleven year old son, and two dogs. I have been an EMT for twenty-eight years, and I volunteer for my local fire company, the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company. I am one of their EMS Lieutenants, and I have primary responsibility for training, health, and safety initiatives. Other activities include spectator sports, cooking, and following my son's adventures in competitive robotics.

Candidate Statement
It has been my honor and privilege to serve as the President of APTA Home Health for the last two and a half years. I hope that you see fit to allow me to continue in this role for a second term. My first term started off with a bang, as we created a new Strategic Plan with support from APTA. This has driven us to focus on member value, member engagement, and advocacy efforts.

In my second term, these efforts will continue, but I also hope to ensure that all who practice physical therapy in the home can be included in our Academy. We need to shine more light on those who practice in home settings but who are not providing traditional certified home health services.

Additionally, we continue to grow our Advanced Competency in Home Health program and OASIS Competency program. We also have new benefits for members. In partnership with APTA, we now offer health insurance for Academy members who are self-employed or who own a business. I hope to be able to partner with anyone who can add value to membership in APTA Home Health and deliver for the Academy and its members.
