Scott Richardson, PT, PhD

Dr. Richardson is running for Nominating Committee Member in the 2022 Elections. 

Dr. Richardson grew up in San Diego and ran cross country and track for San Diego State University.  He is married with 4 children and 2 step-children.  He graduated from Hahnemann University with a Masters in Physical Therapy in 1992.  He received his PhD in Health Promotion and Wellness from Rocky Mountain University in 2016. 

His professional history includes owning a private orthopedic physical therapy practice for 13 years before entering academia.  He is currently an Associate Professor at Franklin Pierce University in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. His research has resulted in several publications in peer reviewed journals focusing on the effects of non-cognitive factors on graduate student academic performance. Personal interests include gardening, exercising and spending time with his wife Stephanie and children.

Candidate Statement

I have been working in Home Health for 28 years and am passionate about delivery of skilled physical therapy to patients in their home environment. I have watched our profession evolve through various iterations of reimbursement, documentation requirements, and care coordination in home health. I have been a member of the Home Health section since 2015 and earned the Advanced Competency in Home Health in 2019. I have a strong desire to assist in the growth of the Home Health section and my position as a faculty member gives me a great opportunity to expose students to home health and teach them about care delivery in this important setting.
I am a hard worker, dependable, and will go the extra mile to assist in this work of identifying potential section members and encouraging them to be become involved in this great work.
